Just got back from 10 days in San Diego. Went for a convention and stayed for vacation. Grew up in LA but never really appreciated San Diego before this trip. Maybe it was the 65-70 degree weather (coming from Boston's -10 to 20 degrees) or having the camera with me and now seeing everything as a photographer but it was a very enjoyable trip. All shots with Canon 350D and either the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 mkI or Sigma 30mm f/1.4 EX. Here are some shots:

these pictures are great! I have family in San Diego, and seeing these pictures makes me really want to go see and stay with them!

I love the one where the sand is in focus and the building that looks like the "Breakers" is out of focus...wonderful composition.

    great work!

now that I think about it I don't think I meant the "Breakers" because that's in florida, and I think it was really tall if I remember correctly...it's been a few years since we stayed there....but I seem to think we were on the 8th floor or something. I'll have to ask what that resort was called we stayed at in Maine. it looks just like that one, kind of like a golf resort with green roofs and perfect white everything and the spire-like things. I love traveling, nothing like it in the world...

    I really like these two.

Reminds me of a vacation I took there last year- there is a lot of different things to photograph in SD.

Heading over to check out your shots from the Animal Park - I went there too! Great park!!

    Hey Ross,
Thanks for the comments. It's the Hotel Del Coronado. An absolutely incredible hotel to stay at with very fine sandy beaches. In fact, the sand is almost too fine and doesn't easily rub off...had a bit end up on the camera....

of all the places I've traveled I've never been to the west coast of the US, I've been to the west coast of Canada, but never the US! I hope I get to go and am able to capture pictures as good as these! I still can't think of the hotel that I was referring to....now that's going to bug me!

Is the picture Ross is referring to of the Hotel Del Coronado? That place is amazing, last time I was there it was Christmastime....gorgeous. Pre-SLR days so my shots are crap. Thanks for the re-tour, this is a really nice set. SD is gorgeous.

Only thing missing is some colorful shots of OLD TOWN!!! mwink.gif

It's my favorite city in California. Just took the whole family there for a vacation a few months back - had a ball.

Great photography.......wish I had taken more time to shoot while I was there.

Very nice, I especially like the third one, the open water and sky with the silhouette of the pier.
