A hike in the mountains

I finally got round to postprocessing some of the fall photos from last year. These are from a hike I did in late October in the Julian Alps in Slovenia. I won't bore you with a lengthy description, but for all who are interested, there's the whole travelogue with more photos on my page.
We started before sunrise and had been hiking for an hour before the sun finally came up:
The slopes of the mountain we were climbing were covered with larches:
Looking down from the top to the valley below:
The weather improved as the day went on. Here we were on the third peak in the ridge, looking toward Slovenian hight mountain, Triglav (in the clouds ):
Golden larches all over the place:
Back in the valley, we stopped at a clearing in the woods where shepherds used to live many years ago:
It was a lovely hike! :barb

Thanks! It had been pretty cloudy an hour before I took this photo, and I really was glad the weather improved and offered such blues skies and puffy white clouds!

Aha, thanks! I wasn't sure which one you were referring to as I have posted a few series of photos with Slovenian landscapes.

I've tried to find more links, but most Slovenian climbing clubs only have webpages in Slovenian.
Interested?

I enjoyed these immensely, hiking is a great pastime and gives you a sense of achievement when you reach the summit. Capturing them as you have allows us to go with you.
Photographers deal in things which are continually vanishing and when they have vanished there is no contrivance on earth which can make them come back again.

I have enjoyed viewing your images of such an unusual place. Here is what I want to convey to you: The location is spectacular; in fact I would consider it a potential location for future shoot outs! Your eye has potential and I really hope you consider studying photography more. Your compositions are made up of bits and pieces not fully developed. To be brief about one point, identify one subject in your pictures and focus on it. In landscape it is more difficult because most don't identify with the subjects in a landscape such as a single rock or leaf or tree. However, it is your opportunity to point such subject out!
Go for it!

You make a valid point about the difficulty of finding a single subject to make the composition stronger when shooting landscapes. The landscape itself may be spectacular, but making the photo spectacular often proves to be harder than it seems. The hikes that I do are usually as much about exercise as they are about photography. Which means I try to make the best of the situation (and place and weather and time of day) as it's impossible to be in ten different places on one hike at the time of the best light, which usually only comes at sunrise and sunset. I am also aware that for that special photo you have to return to the location several times, unless you're very lucky with the weather.
As for Slovenia being a possible location for a future shootout, it certainly is a very scenic place and packs in a lot on a relatively small area, which can be covered easily. The idea has actually been mentioned here before. If you're thinking about it seriously, let me know so I can possibly help you with more info.
