The title sounds daft but to show light intensity and been a mono man black and white picks up on the light better than colour IMHO

    Very interesting, Martin.thumb.gif

I do not think I would have tried to portray a rainbow in monochrome, but your image is lovely.

I do think I prefer the first over the second, tho.

That's thinking outside the box to do rainbows in B&W...these are awesome! Your darkroom training really shows without a doubt! thumb.gif

I'd have never thought B&W for a rainbow either but it works nicely.

I like how the rainbow highlights the buildings. A very surreal shot.

bowdown.gifbowdown.gif Hello Martin. I'm quite impressed as well. A really interesting niche in this world of digital color. My only question is whether your images started in color and then was adapted to B&W or shot in B&W?

I have to say I really like these. Very cool how it almost looks like the rainbow is throwing a splash of light on the ground in both of them. Very contrasty with excellent tones.

All my images are taken in colour then converted to mono, the reason for this is that one can then use say channel mixer in PS and adjust RGB channels separately to give varying effects to the image, eg, red channel darkens blues, blue channel darkens greens like filters do for BW using film

    Thanks

I'm not a big fan of B&W, but I have to say these images are positively stunning! You've just proved a rainbow can look good without color too!
