Birding with my son

I went out with my 9 year old son to take some sunrise photos of the local birds at Ft. De Soto Park. The action wasn't so great, but we both had a nice morning.

I would encourage any of you with young children to try and get them involved in this hobby. Great time spent together can create some fun memories. They will probably surprise you !

My son in the morning fog with his bad technique!:dunno

This one was taken by a Canon :crazy shooter we happened to meet out there. He was kind enough to email me this nice pic of my son and me.

I second this... my 4 year old (going on 8) comes out with me with a little P&S camera and just snaps away. Most of his shots are a little out of focus and his subject matter needs work but he loves it. :)

Junior has his own SLR? Man, what's happened since I was a kid. I got a hand-me-down Konica P&S.

    Looks like a great time!

No, that's my backup D200 with a 180mm lens on it. He was strongly advised to not drop it in the sand!

Where are the kid's photos, the ones he took? Looks like the weather was dusty or foggy.

    ginger (cool idea!)
After all is said and done, it is the sweet tea.

I'm planning on getting my 11 year old nephew a camera as his confirmation present so we can learn together (more like he'll teach me).

They should have a kids photo display section - I bet there are plenty of kids of smugmug users who take their own shots.
