I am always looking for criticisms that help me improve. Don't worry about my feelings deal.gif

charles, the focus is not sharp. on birds, the eye should be in focus. examine harry's shots in the nature forum - he's really nailing those birds!

the rest of his head's a bit soft, too, charles. it's really hard, this shot of mine is juust at the limit of acceptability imo - taken with 70-200 f/2.8L, 1Ds Mark II.

edit: your shot would be a winner, two things: sharpness, and tone down the highlights imo (rocks, left). the expression on the bird is really good, i should add.

Charles interesting capture . I will ditto Andy on this.

A second word of advice that Andy neglected to mention was ...
were is the obligitory bird butt shot? Yours is hiding:D

    On a serious note

When I have a busy area near one of my bird shots I turn AF off and go to M. Sometimes AF recompose gives me soft shots.

re BBshot: You do know the difference between the feather and the whole chicken, right?

Re: sharpness... I should go back with some USM, but I should have mentioned that this was with an early Canon mount dSLR that only had 2MP.

    Here with some USM
