Well after playing around with Imagenomic RealGrain set for Other Effects>Enhance: Vivid

Played with this shot to make it real dramatic......is it overdone?

Just printed out a 8x10 for framing and it looks pretty impresive if I must say so!

Just curious, but what does that effect do that a little saturation boost + contrast enhancement doesn't?

    Is it overdone??

Yes, I think it is Graphy. Sharpening artifacts. Reds in the forground keep catching my eye. Evaluating sharpening artifacts on a small monitor image versus a print is a treacherous endeavour though. Prints frequently need more sharpening than looks good on a monitor.

I think I would prefer more pastels here. Interesting scene, that's for sure.

    Oh well.......

I saw some inspirational framed pics at work that were sharp SATURATED shots and they are real eye catchers....was trying to do the same. ne_nau.gif

Graphy, you have the print, I only have the little image here on my monitor that I am using for surfing, so don't put too much significance to my comments.

You have the print - I do not - YOU have the item that really is the anwer to your question.

If it looks good to you in print, run with it!!

Trust your own eyes with your print. DO NOT put to much importance what I or anyone else here on the web says about your pictures. If they look good to you in print, nuf said!!

Pathfinder's advice is probably the best advice you'll ever get on any photo forum. We're all going through some kind of evolution with our art and, at the end of each day, we have only ourselves to account for the results. Just work hard, be patient and let your own evolution continue.

I enjoy the modified image understanding I only see the internet version! However, I might crop a bit off the top to keep the water line from being in the very center of the frame. Also you might want to try this effect on only certain sections of the image as then it will become less obvious and more of a mystery to the viewer. deal.gif

    Good advice Pathfinderthumb.gif
