This swan was out walking on the ice today

I think he's anxious for spring thaw because he went straight to the only thawed out spot around!

Nice one Douglas, what attracts birds to freezing water ???
Surely it's gotta be freezing for them too ??
Was this swan on it's own or were there others?

Thanks Skippy, it was the only Swan there, theres usaually anywhere from 2 - 6 around the small lake when the ice is gone. Not sure why that guy is still around, I think he maybe one that was born last year, maybe he was scared to leave home. ne_nau.gif

Beautiful swan! How far away was it? The only reason i ask, i would love to see it closer, but i'm not aware if you didn't want to crop for a reason. Thanks for sharing!!clap.gif

Thanks ShepsMom, Im guessing it was roughly about 100 feet away with a 200mm lens on a 1.6 FOV body

Here is a cropped version of the same photo.

Nice shots! I like the wintry feel of the first one (don't get to see that kind of thing here), and well done on the detail in the whites thumb.gif

Thank you Doug for getting it closer. Its WHITE Laughing.gif. I agree with 200mm can't crop much, it loses its effect. Nice picture regardless! :D
