Tried my hand at shooting some shots at a friends wedding. I was not hired and they had there own Photographer taking photo's for them. All my shots were just on the fly shots walking around the room.

    Buy a flash diffuser, it will dramatically reduce the hard shadows, and will help control the 'flash' look to many of your shots. At the very least, try bouncing vs straight flash.
