Hi Guys!
I have been working on my blog and would love a few of you to have a look. I was wondering if there is still a blog link group thing happening? I remember it around here a while ago but not sure if anyone is still involved..

Not many responses huh?
I too put up a blog for the same reason. It looks like yours has been up several months more than mine. Check me out: http://vintage-photos.blogspot.com/, (unfortunately my last post didn't really have anything to say so read my earlier ones.)
Of course I have a completely different angle. I am pushing vintage photos and my photo restoration services.
I think I have a couple suggestions. First and by far biggest:
* Edit your blog posting HTML so that if someone clicks on your photo it will take them to a larger version of that photo ON YOUR WEBSITE! Its only a minor pain but would certainly seem to be more effective. If you don't know how just ask.
* Go to www.statcounter.com and get their free stats package. You 'll have to install a bit of code that they generate for you. Install it using the forms designer by adding an element to the footer. The element says something about inserting java/html. That lets you see how many hits you are getting and where they came from. From that I know that I have a few registered readers (other than my family!) and that it does generate visitors to my site.
Now these other suggestions aren't working for me yet, meaning that they haven't proved effective, but they should:
* Invite other people to author posts. I realixe this may not fit your vision for your site. I was shooting for something a bit more subtle and indirect than yours. I have invited a few people but so far no one seems interested. I just haven't found the right people yet.
* Ad a "Friends of " second and trade links with people whose blogs are somehow related to yours. Again, I haven't made any progress on this idea.
I would be interested in hearing from anyone who has experience with this approach to advertising and suggestions about what works.

Andy,
All the links there are over a year old. I tried to use it on my blog http://vintage-photos.blogspot.com/ and could not get it to work. I am pretty new at blogging so I may be doing something wrong.

I just started a Blog and had it tied directly into my SM site:
I am a coding rookie, so I could only make my Navbar minimal on my Bolg site, but with better coding experience, you could make your Blog and SM site seamless.

Hyperlink to your images in-gallery on SmugMug is probably better than just pic links.
Why not a link to Dgrin in your sidebar, along with those other forums
