The chicks are now 4 days old I'll be going back to the nest On Friday and Saturday so I'll keep you all updated as the chicks grow.
It is so amazing to watch these birds grow and how fast they gow, one of the things that amazes me is how far the parent bird puts the beak into the gullet of the chick.
Here's some shots then of the 4 day olds, hope you guys like these

Very sharp, lots of detail. I like it. One question though, does the flash disturb them at all when it goes off? How are you getting that close?

I use a 400mm prime lens with minimal flash just to fill, these birds are very tolerant of people, if you saw where they built this nest you would understand.:D

Thanks for the Kudos on the technical aspects of the shots and just to reasure you I do recognize stress in these little guys and have the utmost respect for their space.

You can tell with hummers when they get stressed, they bob and weave and get noisy , sometimes fly right up to you as if to say leave, if I see any of these signs I back off.

I witnessed a guy last year who is supposed to be a biologist shooting a nest at the Serpulveda Basin with reflectors set up on the nest, the bird was freaking out trying to feed her young, needles to say I got very pissed off with the guy.
