Is one of my passions, the weather in Tahoe has been unbelievable this week touching 70f, Reno has been a record 80f. I had the itches to hike today and tried to get to a favorite hike of mine Ellis peak. Unfortunately the road is closed 7 miles below the start of the hike. We decided to hike the road ( 5 feet of snow on the road) which had been compacted by snowmobiles, although still very hard going, we managed 3 miles out in the slushy snow and just over 1.000 feet of elevation.

This is how the hike is in summer.

And here are a few shots from the hard slog today.

Looking up at the peak some 7 miles away!!!

a small stream get bigger as the snow melts in the unseasonably warm weather.

The warm weather has started some of the brush to turn color.

Photographers deal in things which are continually vanishing and when they have vanished there is no contrivance on earth which can make them come back again.
