These guys (ring-tailed possums) are absolutely everywhere here...we often take the billy lids down to the park at night to feed them. Sometimes i have seen 30 & 40 come out for a handout.
Very friendly & some will even let you pick them up if you have something they want.
    They really really like grapes.
The also love the fruit from the palm trees in the park.

They are so cute, I know they are a pest but they are still cute :D
We had one visiting in the early hours of the morning but it made the fatal mistake of walking on the fence, not knowing the fence belongs to the dog next door, and nobody, absolutely nobody walks on the the fence without paying the price rolleyes1.gif .... alas we no longer have a possum.

They have incredible balance those possums, I watched one walk the telephone line without rocking it, perfect balance.

I still think they are cute iloveyou.gif ... thanks for sharing Gus.... Skippy

Nice night shots of a cute little animal. Unfortunately, for me, the only opossums I see are usually dead on the side of the road, the victim of a Goodyear, Michelin or someother sort of tire.

BTW, the last shot of the trees is absolutely wonderful with the light. thumb.gif

I love critters...these guys dont actually have teeth either so if they miss a grape ...your finger stays in tact.

No opposums in TN I would pick up. Ours are nasty rat lookin' critters. Even though they can't help it, they are still yuk!

You would NOT want to feed the possums around here.....by hand or otherwise!

Funny how things are turned upside-down (from my prespective) in your part of the world.

Nice captures, Gus. I always like to know new things....and this was new to me.:D

I can't believe Australia gets all the cool animals!!! No teeth? That seems unusual for a mammal. Our possoms definitely have teeth and "hiss" at you...not too friendly, but I understand they can make good pets if you can get over their rat-like appearance!!! Interesting story Gus. I love the shot of the trees! :saurora

Bit like a cow biting you i suppose.

eek7.gif I don't know anything about your Australian cows, Gus, but here in Dairy Land USA, me not gonna stick my hand in mouth of a cow. :nah Ours have teeth.

Your possums are very different than ours. Cuter, that's for sure. As someone already said, U.S. possums are quite ugly and not at all playful.

Dang. I must concede the part about cows bite being damaging. Still, I won't be sticking my hand in the mouth of any animal that's larger than me for any reason, even for L-lenses. Perhaps if I'm ever out your way, I might buy some grapes though.

    p.s. - I am considering dangerous stunts for L-lenses.
