I came across this pic the other day. I had taken it in October of 2003. I haven't shown this to anyone yet (not even my dad!). This is a man who is really in his *element*-surf fishing on the Jersey coast. We got together after a very long period of 'estrangement'. I don't think I've seen him any happier.

(sorry if this is too large, but it just didn't look right at the medium setting. Andy is probably the only one who can see it without scrolling :D )

Taken with the Digital Rebel and the $200 55-200 USM MkII @ 200mm f7.1
If every keystroke was a shutter press I'd be a pro by now...

Great shot. He looks very natural - good light, well framed, isolated subject... can't think of anything I wish were different. Looks like good times indeed!

Beautiful shot mongrel! I hope you two are still 'together' since October 2003!

I love it! So completely natural..As one who is estranged from my own parents, your post touches me.

He obviously knows that a bad day fishing is better than a great day in the office! Nice capture.

WOW! I'm kinda overwhelmed by the responses...
Sorry I'm so late getting back to everyone. Our power was out for about four hours this morning so no morning surfing for me. I just got in from work (second shift) and was able to respond to all the kind words and comments.

THANK YOU ALL!!! I know how valuable everyone's time is, and I appreciate that you took a few minutes out of your day for me.

Just a note: YES, dad and I are doing fine. My stepmother recently underwent a double mastectomy (sp?) for breast cancer so it's been a bit of a drag between the operation and the chemo\radiation treatments. But, adversity makes us stronger and gives us all a reason to keep in touch.

    Again, thank you all...
