How to make (exif) a link in a post?

I've just posted an entry in the LPS, but couldn't figure out how to make the exif url become a link. I think the mod came in and did it for me. I've searched and just can't find the answer.
In other words, I just posted the url as text, but it didn't become an underlined link. How can I do that please?

I don't want the cheese, I just want to get out of the trap.

[*url]your link here
(don't use the * when you do this)
Or, even easier than that would be to click on the icon that shows a "chain link" when creating a message:

Okay, I don't have any chains to click on, but I see "insert link" is a small blue ball (earth?). Great.
I don't see the letters url on each end though.
Also, the first link you made for me there is the one that gave me trouble. It says this:
<<< To add the EXIF information, you've got to head back to smugmug.
Under your photo is a link to photo details: exif
Click on that.
(Note: make sure that you have Photograph Details enabled in your custom gallery settings!)>>>
I don't have anything called Photo details in my customize gallery page. Also, when I turn on "camera details", nothing comes up underneath the photo as they say. But it's ok. I get the Blue i now, so that's working.
Anyway, do you know how to make the word "exif" be the link instead of the long url?
Thanks a lot for the help.

This is an alternative to using the icon above. You would actually type in the bracketed text
Look for the option "Camera info" and make sure that it is selected as "yes". The photobar is enabled and should show a blue i" to click for photo details.
Sure manually type [*url=your link here]exif
(don't use the *)

Thanks Jim. The link in that post was to a slightly out of date version of our tutorial. I've updated the link.
