Here in the Great White North there are many days that flat light puts such a damper on my photography. My skills are not that good yet and I can make many mistakes. Today the sun was fighting to emerge and I try to capitilize
what I can.

My view from behind my house. 9:00A.M ish I have got to go down and check the light in the valley.

First shot ; I rolled down the window of the truck no parking allowed on the small bridge I was on.

And seeing that Ann is from Edmonton and Edmonton and Calgary have a large albiet fun rivialry I must take a fence shot too.(I concede that hers is better:bow )Does it look like there to much POST on these posts?

Well the light did'nt do what I wished for as I was taking some shots for the challenge (I'll post those in the 31 challenge thread)
So I tried a Bokeh shot.

Lastly I tried to recreate a photo I took last year under similar conditions however I only had a Canon A80 4 meg pix. Nice camera yet not as powerful as the Digital SLR.

I thought it came out quite good.:dunno

Thanks for viewing my fight for light.

The last pic of the beach is great and has a real sense of humor to it. The pic of the fence is good, but from what I can see in it, I would've framed it in landscape rather than portrait orientation. Otherwise, it looks fine.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

All outstanding if you ask me. I really like the first one and the frost on the web.

Laughing.gif re; the rivalry. Good thing there is no NHawful this year!rolleyes1.gifrolleyes1.gif

I like your fence - it has great structure and texture and is a great subject. I also like that you can see all of the grass whereas mine was buried in the white stuff. clap.gif

And the beach shot is great - but I am confused - where in Calgary is there a beach?????headscratch.gifheadscratch.gif

Harryb, Greaper, LouBuonomo Thanks for the nice comments.

Ann this beach is at a man made lake in Calgary's Fish Creek Provincial Park.
It is basically a shallow pee pool for kids rolleyes1.gif .

Here is a summer shot a few days before opening early June 2004.

It actually is a nice place to bring the kids and it is just minutes from my house.
having Canada's largest provincial urban park as a backyard is nice ,not as nice as living in the country but... maybe one day :D .

    Thanks for the comments
    Cheers

I Love the Beach Closed shot! It's brilliant. I also really like shot number 2.. the warm coloured misty haze. Lovely.
