My last shoot allowed me to splurge a little on a new lens. I've heard all the great reviews about it and wanted to see what all the hoopla is about.

All I can say is that this lens is tack sharp. Heavy as all balls but hey I need the workout anyway. :barb

Took some sample shots today when my wife got home from work.

You know I can't resist laughing everytime I look at your location. "Crested Butte". Good god I'm 28 and still think like a 9 year old. :)

And thank you for your compliment and my wife thanks you as well.

    Nice shot! Beautiful lady.

Congrats on the 80-200. I've got an 80-200 that's probably about 10 years old now. I love that lens. It doesn't have the fast focus or IS goodies of the newer ones but it's still tack sharp even wide open.

This is timely for me... I need to upgrade my long reach lens. I'm waffling tween the 80-200 2.8, the 70-300 VR, and the 300mm f4.

Mostly, I've been waffling on the whole "what else can I do with it other then critters and jocks?" Well, your shot reminded me of it's protrait use. Thanks. thumb.gif

the 70-300VR is my dream lens, though for the price i'm afraid that's all it's going to be. I was able to pick up the 80-2002.8 AF-D ED for $600 used in A+ condition.

And so far I haven't been dissapointed. Although close focusing could be better.
