My daughters and son are all teenagers. He is now in college, but the girls are still in high school. It seems as if there is always a homecoming dance, or prom, sadie hawkins dance, winter formals etc etc etc for them to be primping for. Some of the best photos I have taken of them are while they are getting their make up and hair done. The following shots were all taken in available light with a Canon 400D. I have only recently really discovered the benifit of using a custom white balance, so these older shots are off in that respect, but still make fine memories all the same. This weekend, my son is escorting his girl at a sorority formal, and my girls are going to the twirp dance, so maybe I can get off work early enough to record all the goings on for posterity......in the meantime, here are a few from earlier this year.

These are nice and will be precious to look back on in years to come. Sometimes not correcting the white balance evokes a mood that works well, and I think this was one of those times. Adds an element of nostalgia. I particularly like the 2nd shot....beautiful girls!

Very beautiful. On the mirror shots, have you considered putting the reflected face in focus, and letting the "real" hair be blurry?

I agree with your comment on white balance. They can always be tinted later, though, if the correct wb is used. However.......an in correct wb in the original doesn't lend much flexability. The second shot is quite popular on my pbase site.

Yes, I have done both, and have examples in my gallery.
