Keywords and "Private" Question

I'm aware that if you mark a gallery "Private" then keywords will no longer appear. My question is when you switch the gallery back to "Public" and keywords still don't appear, is this a feature or a bug? Do I have to reupload the images with the keywords in order to get them back?

    Mea culpa Andy. I went back in to check and they are back. It appears that I was working in multiple tabs in my browser when I was trying different settings to balance my wife's desire for privacy with my desire to make it easy for folks to find images and was looking at the wrong tab. Sorry for the inconvenience.
