caterpillars making a nest?

I found about 15 of these guys while testing the new sigma making what I believe is a nest or kacon.

    Hi there Ryan.......I'm assuming when caterpillars are in clusters like that, it's probably not good news for whatever tree they are in eek7.gif

    We have a caterpillar similar to those called Spit Fires, they strip the trees very fast, and cause a lot of damage too, the council poisons them.

    Often the hairy one's have tiny barbs on the ends of those hairs that can be quite nasty if you pick them up.
