Some more images from Klamath showing the improbability of sneaking up on the Eagles, and some of the many other raptors and water birds in the area.

Really nice shots. I especially like 4, 5 and 8. It is really hard to get a sharp pic of a bird in flight. Good job.

Indeed, getting close to the eagles in the field seemed almost impossible.
They seem to instinctively sense human presence, especially if approached on foot. Notwithstanding, you did get pretty closeclap.gifclap.gifclap.gif
Got to love those hawk and kestrel shotsthumb.gif
Not too shabby on the landscape shot eithermwink.gif:D

I believe he did put on the brakes, but I was faster on the draw then him, even though they move very quickly. Thanks Ric. :D:D:D

Excellent set William. There's no way you are gonna sneak up on an eagle or any other bird. In their world the are either alert or dead. They ain't no way a 6 ft tall human carrying a camera and a tripod is going to sneak up on them.

This is one very cool post. I really like that first Red Tail, especially because of the eye focus and expression. Quite a few winners in here, though!

Thanks Stephen, that fleeting glance from the bird is a wonderful link between he and I for that very brief moment, and provides us with an opportunity to remember some of the smaller gifts we receive.

Thank you Ben, I really did enjoy the time at Klamath. Next year, or rather the end of this year, we should all make advance plans to shoot up there when they tell me around 500 Eagles come in. It would be much, much fun without having too go so far north. Russ and I have all the details to share.

Top notch set here, William. Good job on the wide angle eagle shots so we can get a feeling of the environment there. Looks really good.

The hawk and kestrel shots are absolutely splendid! clap.gif I know it was a big commitment of time and energy to drive from LA to WA, but you guys really came back with the goods. deal.gif

    Cheers,
