I thought that after seeing and photographing the abundant wildlife of the Klamath basin area I wouldn't be as inspired by the locals, the following proves me wrong:

How about those mating colors. If these arn't the most underrated fellows then who is? Nice shots all around.

Maybe everyone already knows this, but I don't so..........what lens were you using, if you don't mind?

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"
The shots of the egret and the canada goose were taken that very day I saw you at the Basin, the last four were taken in my backyard the same day as this post. That Basin is indeed a treasure trove. Thanks Steve
all these shots were taken with a EF 300mm f4L IS. I usually use this lens with TC 1.4, but not for any of these shots. Actually, it is very sharp at its widest aperture, the last four images in this post were all taken at f4/500 ISO 400
Thanks for the inquiry, Pete
I just got lucky for a change
Thanks Maestro

I especially like the last one, beautiful contrast against the green background.

Now you've got me wondering if I should have gotten the 300 F4 rather than the 400 F5.6.
Anyway, your images are simply as good as it gets.

Overcast sky, high ISO (400), shallow DOF (f4, max aperture for this lens), shutterspeed not fast enough for stopping in flight hummingbirds (imo). Plus this was the only shot fired (no machinegun action). On review, I was surprised to see the eyes in perfect focus since the hummer seemed out of focus in my viewfinder when I pressed the shutter. Shutterlag finally helped for a change :ivar
