    this was a very cloudy morning so that's why the background is white

    i usually shoot in A for Ospreys and stop down to f7 or so as long as i can keep iso at 200 & ss at 1/800 or faster
    On my 30d I set ev to -.3 or -.7 because it tends to blow highlites....

    the best thing to do is to chk the histogram after every shot until u r convinced u got the metering set

    i like to shoot them dark (ev set -.3 or -.7) and intentionally underexpose. I use matrix metering and hit the birds body near the eyes....then since i shoot in RAW brining back the light is easy but you need to keep iso as low as poss or u will get noise where the shadows were
