    Thanks for the comments everyone :)
    Must admit I was suprised with the mating on water- spotted them when I was doing some pond maintenance. The female was actually walking on the water dragging the male backwards :)
    shepsmom- had to lookup love bugs- we do get March flies here (normally in April of course) but nothing like those numbers.
    Skippy- the wing colour is just thin film interference patterns like oil on water.
