Kind of got addicted to photographing these little guys over the last three weeks.
The kids fledged two days ago, yesterday strong winds in southern California destroyed the tree branch that the nest was built on, all I can say is that I hope the little guys made it.
Heres a few captures of their fragile lives and the fledging of one of them

Now I'm jealous :D Great work, Steve clap.gifclap.gifclap.gif
Went out for a walk in the park yesterday and saw a nest on the ground due the strong winds we had the other day. It made me how these little guys can survive such a tremendous force. Hope your hummer family made it ok.

I would imagine not too many folks get to see the actual nest,
let alone the new offspring .... excellent series thumb.gif

Hope they all survive too .... thanks for sharing........ Skippy

    Hey Jill,

Thanks so much, it pays to be observent, listen and the birds will tell you who they are and where they live, not always but a lot of the time.:D

My friends often ask me how I find these nests, a lot of the time I hear where they are at, the sounds can be very subtle, it takes time to train your ear, even baby hummers make noises that sound very much like the parents.

Beautiful series there, Steve. It's interesting the way they and their nest blend into the environment.
