This past weekend I shot the 2nd Annual MHT Jumper Derby. The profits go to funding a cross country schooling course that is open year round.

This was the youngest rider and she did a great job with her pony!

Of course one of my favorite horses was the Haflinger.

Galway is an Off the Track TB, who has found a new life eventing. Beth and Ray do a great job of claiming these horses and then retraining them. Galway is for sale.

Another friend, JP, had her mare, affectionatly called Donkey out. Donkey is a connemara x TB.

This big guy is a shire x dutch warmblood x TB

This young rider had a near miss. Her horse is a TB x Clyde

But, the horse was able to clear the 3' jump and the rider was able to regain her balance.

She went through the course a second time and had a much better ride.

Thanks Carmel :) I'm actually pretty happy with how the pictures turned out, it was SOOO overcast and nasty that day, with rain off and on.

overcast is love-hate.... great for killing harsh shadows but it stinks when its hazy or rains. You also don't get FRIED after shooting in the sun for 8 hours. I start up shooting horse events in another two weeks. I'm hoping spring is in full effect so backgrounds are a little more interesting than brown, grey, and more brown.

Oh I know! I never get sweet light when shooting a horse event. I'm jinxed :) In fact, at Rolex last year I had a photographers badge....but no sunscreen. I got burned on dressage day (luckily I found a wal-mart and got some aloe!) and then got rained on x-country and stadium days.

I hope you post some of your shots from this year, I'm excited that the season is starting to hit full swing. wings.gif I already have a couple of my own rides planned. Also, I was asked to photograph the fall Marlborough Horse Trials, they're hosting the USEF Area II Beginner Novice Championships.....but I'll be in Canada for the Pre-Shootout for GNP.

Gary, that's a nice shot of Andrew in his customary blue and white. :) He's a really nice guy! I got to meet him when he won Rolex (Kentucky) last year.

Have fun at the shows/events this year!!

Thanks gdad! Where are you located in Florida? Florida is the equestrian capitol in the winter. You've got lots to choose from I hope you post some pictures when you get to one. thumb.gif
