So, two weeks later and 'Spike' aka 'Steve' the porcupine, now lives under our spruce tree. The low bows provide him plenty of protection and safety. The daily suplyof apples (courtesy of hubby and son) provide him no reason to leave.

Ohhhhhhhh coolness rolleyes1.gif how big is Spike?
Would he be the size of a dog?

We don't have porcupines here, we have an echidna, but they are quite small and roll up into a ball when frightened.

Hope he's not chasing the squirrels away :D
I wanna see the squirrels ....... Skippy

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Thanks. Yep, they are cute, and harmless if you do not touch them. Not so harmless to gardens or trees, I understand.

Hi skippy - think small dog, big cat size. Somewhere over 20 lbs?
And do not worry about the squirrels - they are still here - although I was really surprised by spike the other night - I found him in my platform bird feeder - I would have thought it would tip over if he climbed it, but I watched him climb down - remarkble, really!

Marina - you are the second person to ask - no milk, but apples and bread!

Ann, Steve aka Spike aka Prickles is very cute. :) I love that first shot, it's a terrific angle and setup. I've never seen a porcupine in person. clap.gif

    Hi Christina

Thanks. Porcupines in suburban areas are pretty common here - at least I've come across one in my yard or my neighbors four times that I remember. None have ever been quite as cooperative, or moved in long term, as Spike though!
