Would you share your technicals? you said slow shutter with flash. so Im guessing the flash stopped enough movement, the ripples in the water are lovely.

Still working on the technique! But the idea is to use the flash to freeze the subject, and let the water blur with the slower shutter. The more movement in the water the higher your shutter speed can be. 200-500 fps seems to be the sweet spot. I also was using a better beamer on the flash.

San Diego was not so good! These are from SJWS. I did get some shots of a kayak surfer, and some sleeping harbor seals in SD though.
