Actually there aren't as many bees out as I'd like -I spent a lot of time looking and waiting. I had more trouble with the wind than I did with the color of the flowers -shooting that tight leaves very little room for error when you are looking for a good composition -and it doesn't help that I don't allow myself to use the crop tool. Come to think of it, if there was a Dalantech version of Elements it would only have about three or four menu options mwink.gif

How are things down under? I know you had a bit of a "bug dry spell".

I'm crazy enough to get within 5 inches of a bee -but I ain't stoopid* rolleyes1.gif

*Deliberately mis-spelled for comedic effect -before anybody points that out... :D

Actually a lot of the bees in my area are ground dwellers -they build complex hives under ground. There are a few places in the area that I shoot where I won't stand around for long periods for fear that the hive will empty out...

    Lovely shots John :)
    Brian V.

    Thanks Brian!

I got an email form Mark Plonsky yesterday telling me that I need to get closer so I'm gonna add the 25mm tube to my 1.4 TC and try to get a bee portrait... eek7.gif

I was hoping to get a story how you get prepared to go bee hunting wearing the whole body suit and a mask. Now i'm disappointed!! C'mon, get with the program, will ya! rolleyes1.gif

You laugh, but I got an email from one of my mentors (Mark Plonsky) who told me that I need to get closer, so the next time I go looking for bees I'll have a 1.4 teleconverter and a 25mm tube on my lens. Should give me almost 2x...

I'm going to try to get a shot today that is pretty much just the head of a bee -and of course it won;t be a crop... eek7.gif
