Any thoughts on this shot? I was at my grandmas birthday party tonight and thought about CH 31

Any comments? Is it just way to boring?

Here is

I like that you included the action of lightning the candles instead of only showing the result. The cake itself has an interesting surface. Looks like in the center there's already some wax floating around. rolleyes1.gif
The longer I watch the picture the more details it unrevails.

Distracting on the other hand I find the white cake box and the rose-shadow of your frame, but that's just me.

No it's not boring.. it's interesting. I think I'd like to see it without the border and maybe "curved" a tad but I think it's a good idea.

Thanks, the white on the left is a stack of paper plates. The box on the right is a tub of ice cream. And the rose colored shadow is matched to one of the colors on a candle.

i will work on it some more and see what I come up with.

    Thanks for the tips!

Yeah, I like the 2nd better. It concentretes more on the cake and through being darker you get a better feeling for the atmosphere.
    Well done!

I like your second version of the cake best. The third is a little too dark for my eye.

What font did you sue for your signage? I like it a great deal. thumb.gif
