I didn't only get a lion...
...on my recent trip, I also got some birdies:
Brownhooded Kingfisher (who doesn't catch fish)
A Crested Francolin
A Natal Francolin (this one was begging, so had to zoom back to 50mm to get him in the frame - so much for the Bigma being soft at its extremes :wink)
A Mocking Chat
Mrs Mocking Chat
A Crimsonbreasted Shrike (IQ not too good, but he's too pretty to leave out!)
A Crested Barbet
and a Cape White-eye (sorry his head is a bit soft, but he was in a hurry)
Hope you aren't too bored

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

If they are related to thrushes then I don't think they are in the grackle family, but that is what first came to my mind. Now that you mention thrushes and robins though, they do look more like that.
