Dodging

I am very novice in Photoshop and it was recently suggested that I try dodging a portion of one of my pics. Are there any links that you are aware of that can give me some info about what dodging is and how I can accomplish it???

    Dodging is lightening certain areas of an image. You're also going to run into the term Burning. Burning is darkening certain areas of an image.

    Now, for a how-to... well... I was asked to write up a nice dodge and burn tutorial a while back but I keep forgetting to get it done!

    In the meantime, here is a post describing a dodge and burn method that I really like. It might not be the easiest method to get started with but it is very flexible.
