Silly question

Hi guys,
If I upload an original photo with a size of, say, 5mb, does the viewer has to download 5mb to be able to see the photo. Or does the viewer downloads a small version of the original (what size, roughly).
Sorry for the basic question.

Hey aam1234-
No, when you upload, SM will automatically make several different size versions of your image. For instance, with the default settings, each image thumbnail will weigh in at around 3 kb - pretty small.

If you hover over the large picture on the right, you'll see 4 different size options in the photo info bar. The visitors to your site can, if they elect, view any size of the picture they want.
I hope this helps clarify things for you...

Btw, I'm not referring to thumbnails but rather what happens when they click a thumbnail.
