I made my first trip of the season up to St. Augustine rookery yesterday. It was busy enough to keep me happy for a full day of shooting.

I shot 11 gigs of photos and have quickly browsed through them...here are a few I was pleased with. I do need to send my camera in for tweaking because it was not performing as it should have a lot of the time.

All Shot w/ D200 & Nikon 70-200/2.8

A Cattle egret with lore colors beginning to change:

A pair of great egrets enjoying the view after a hard day of nest building:

Tri-Colored heron's were plentiful and actively breeding.

No chicks anywhere as of yet. Tri-colored had many eggs in nests.

If you live anywhere in Florida, and enjoy shooting these types of birds...don't miss this yearly opportunity. It is spectacular to observe all the action at every phase of breeding and nesting!

    Hey Trish,

Looks like you had a good day at the farm. The rookery at St Augustine is the best location I know of for photo ops between late March through early June.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Thanks! I have had the D200 for a little bit over a year. I am seeing some metering issues and also focus issues intermittently. It will be going for a visit to nikon soon:cry
