Hey guys,
I wanted to try and create a fantasy style image, so with the current Spartan movie out I decided to try my hand at recreating a Spartan. I had my son pose for me and then created everything manually. Since this is my first let me know the good/bad.

updated version (softened the foreground smoke and gradient masked it out slightly, also darkened BG a bit):

David...I agree, the smoke looked too rough. I smoothed it out and faded it out more. Thanks for the suggestion.

The "A" can stand for several things, Athens or Athenians but for me I tried to replicate the symbol that I saw on one of the shields from some pics I have seen of them. Although the symbol I saw was actually not the "A" but very similar "lamda" or "l" character...I was too lazy to clone out the horizontal line in the "A" symbol. So the final answer is that it is the "l" which my son's first letter in his name, Lance.
