Can lenses be taken in and repaired? I think one of my lenses has dust inside. Nothing horrible but enough to get on my nerves. Is the lense dead?

Lenses can be repaired. I know if you send it to Canon they charge their base rate of $180. A real camera repair shop should be able to do it and they should charge a lot less, probably $50 or so. If youre in the Charlotte area, I can recommend a repair shop.

I believe Canon (and Nikon) also warranty the lens for 6 months after the work, plus they check the entire lens, not just the dusty part. Some of these newer lenses are almost computers in themselves.
