Question re: photo comments

From time to time, I check out the Day's Popular photos. Liking feedback myself, I will often leave a comment of an image that really impresses me.

I've noticed that some comments include the smugmugger's Bio photo & a small symbol in front of their name.

I was wondering how this is accomplished?

TIA

It's the bio photo. Your comments will have it, too thumb.gif The other symbol is the OpenID symbol.

    More on that, here:

As always, Andy, thanks for the speedy reply.

This is my home page which contains my Bio pic

This is a page where I posted a comment.:

    [Really super photo IMHO]

Unless I've done something wrong (which in most case would probably be the cause. <grin>) for whatever reason, my Bio pic does not show up in the comments as I've seen others. Possible because I'm just a standard user?

    TIA

It's very strange, we are trying some things, stay tuned. Bump this again tomorrow (Thurs) if I haven't come back with a fix.

Gene, I tried some more things. No luck. I've asked for more help from our team :)

    Sorry for the hassle.

No hassle, Andy. It's just a nice to have (okay I admit it, I think it's cool! <grin>).

    Thanks

    Hi Gene,

When you post the comment, are you logged in under your SmugMug account?

When you leave a comment, there are several fields that you have to fill in. The actual comment, the anti-spam code. Did you also enter your name and web address? Or was there no place to do that?

    Thanks for helping out, Ivar.

I am not normally logged into my SmugMug account when I post these comments.

I typically select a rating, enter my name (Gene) in the name box, enter my site address (ghealy.smugmug.com) in the link box. I enter my comment, enter the anti-spam code and then submit comment.

The system responds with a box in the upper left of the browser window stating "Submitting comment". Depending on the speed of the Internet on any given night, my comment shows up almost immediately. My name is underscored and if clicked will take you to my site. That all works fine.

Just the extra tiny thumbnail of my Bio picture doesn't show up as it does with other SmugMuggers. <shrug>

But from you questions, am I wrong to assume the Bio picture only shows up if you post comments while logged into your account on SmugMug? That's what I'm not doing. Will try and give that a go.

    Again thanks for the help.

Hi, no need for colors in posting please - folks who use light skins (see all the skins down at the bottom!) will be UNable to see your post.

This is the reason. Logged out, your bio photo won't show. Please LOG in and your bio photo will show when you leave a comment.

Er.. now you've got me confused. Colours? Dgrin is set to 'Gallery Black' (assume that is what you mean by skin?). I've never changed anything there. In fact I don't see anything in the editor that allows me to change font colour either.headscratch.gif

Thanks for that confirmation, Andy. I assumed as much after Ivar's comments. Of course, I've not seen a photo I wanted to leave a comment on since. :) But as soon as I do, I'll make sure that I'm logged into my account.

Again, thanks so much for all the help!
