From this past weekend in VA rolling out of Williamsburg and got hit by a snowstorm! It was 80 degrees just a few days before but the temps dropped to the 20's by race start!

man that looks crazy ! I can only start to imagine how little grip they have on their tyres. Well done for what light you had...then again ive never shot in snow so maybe you get lots of reflection.

lol3.gif ...and some of that snow is about to hit us tonight.

Charles, good for you getting out in the white stuff too. I wouldn't have, at least with my camera. Looks like you got some keepers.

But biking in the snow, if dressed properly, can be an absolute blast. On the street, I'd be very afraid, but on trails, sure! And I've raced in the stuff (road), and from my failing memory of the event (around the stadium in Milwaukee), everyone was laughing thair a** off as they took the corners, 'cause we all knew someone was going down (note: dont draft too close on snow). Those who were left, all placed and got a trophy or a ribbon.

I don't think I'd give it a go either...I don't mind the cold but the roads were pretty slick. They were fearless tho...I got a lot more action shots when they rolled away from the snow but the rollout in the snow was pretty cool. I'd never seen riders rolling out in near white out...even at some of the Euro spring classics where it can get bad. Reminds me of Hampsten's ride years back...

Heck yeah, I've biked in snow my whole life. Actually I quite prefer a nice icy road to any other surface, since it's so smooth there's just no resistance. Takes very little effort to ride, and only experience to stay riding. rolleyes1.gif Snow is different though, it's a struggle sometimes, but still fun with its challenges.

Good pics, looks a lot like this morning here in AK. Slushy wet stuff that doesn't have a prayer of staying. Bring on the spring! :D
