I like this better but there are some great shots to be seen there.
Some of the people there are not as nice as all of you.
Oh, you didn't mean me? Sorry.

They have a rating system over there from 1 to 7, 7 being best.
Some people are kind enough to comment on your photos, and good or bad, you might learn something, others just drop a very low rating on your shot and move on without an explanation of what they dont like.
When you look at their photos they are all portraits or machines or something, but they are trashing your landscape. When you look at their top rated photos they are all nudes or portraits. It is obvious that they just like this one sort of photo so why bother trashing yours?
I dont mean to sound bitter, because it really doesnt matter what they think. It just seems to be a waste of time, so I quit doin it.
Every once in a while I go back because some people are kind enough to leave comments and suggestions, but the rating system can be arbitrary and curb your enthusiasm.

Was feeling very charitable one day, and that paypal is sooo easy. Its very bulky (so bulky in fact that the link may not work - its VERY difficult) to use as a portfolio or for sharing photos, BUT there are tons of good photos to just browse and learn/get inspiration from, AND the forums are excellent and easy to search for answers. To be honest, I usually do a quick search over there before posting a thread over here.

photo.net used to be my very favorite site on the web. But in the last few years Phil seems to have disengaged and the quality of the new stuff isn't nearly up to Phil's standards (although there still are exceptional photographers there.)
In the meantime, I've found some other interesting sites:
- The Luminous Landscape
- Fred Miranda's site
- Kodak's emerging artists
There are many more, but my 50+ year old mind is drawing a blank just now.Catapultam habeo. Nisi pecuniam omnem mihi dabis, ad caput tuum saxum immane mittam
