I have the philosophy that we can somtimes go beyond reality in a photo. What this reflects is the mood that evening. its hard to capture what the mood and how beautiful certain settings are with a camera.

I was wondering if this photo is overdone. Or if it reflects the beautiful night i witnessed as i walked on the beach.

Only you can say how well the photo reflects what you saw on the beach that evening. However, I will say the sky and water look totally believable. The logs in the foreground look a little too saturated. Maybe you could have applied whatever treatment you used on the sky and water selectively, and left the logs more natural. Doesn't really matter though, it's a very nice image either way.
