I had a couple of days to kill during the week I took off. I decided to take a trip to Pine Mountain, GA to see how Callaway Gardens looked. I knew the azaleas would be in bloom, so why not.

The first trail I took was full of azaleas. I wandered around and found this patch of Tulips with a nice backdrop of azaleas.

I grabbed a few closup shots and kept moving.

Next, I hit the butterfly house. These little buggers are a bit of a cantanceras (sp?) bunch. Just when your ready to get that perfect picture, off they go. Not to mention the beautiful large butterflies with a vibrant blue on the tops of their wings that I never did get a picture of.

Next up was this beautiful chapel. I must say this place is a bit special to me as this was the location my wife choose for our wedding. It's been a long time since I last set foot in this chapel.

Yep, you guessed it, more azaleas.

A beautiful Barred owl. I wish I could say I found this one wild in the park, but it was actually part of the Raptor show they have. The coolest part is that these birds to the show in free flight. It was pretty awesome to have the creature buzz litterly 1 foot over the crowd.

Another of the raptor show participants. I would love to see one of these in the wild, but they are not very plentiful around here.

So that's it, my one day excursion south of Atlanta. I hope you enjoyed.

Thanks,
Goofry

The first and fourth are my favorites. Makes me realize that it's been way too long since I visited Callaway Gardens.

Just beautiful. Oh how I miss the scenery in the South. Growing up I lived near Charleston Sc and we had a huge backyard that was full of azaleas. They are beautiful. Thanks for sharing such nice shots.
