The old woman with her bright, yellow umbrella looked like some surreal apparition from another time in the middle of busy Sydney mall. She wore a knitted flowery hat and a strange looking coat. Her modern, plastic footwear was at total odds with the rest of the outfit. I have this distinct impression I have photographed her before but I cannot recall the circumstances.

Awwwwwww she's beautiful Ted, I love this shot iloveyou.gif
I bet she could tell you a wonderful story or two.
I'd love to have a cup of tea and a chat to this dear lady.
In some ways she looks frail and yet in others she looks like she could walk a few miles.

Nice one Ted clap.gif .... Skippy

Yeah, I have to agree. The colors sound pretty intense-- any reason you converted to B & W?

The reason why I've opted for black and white is in a difference between what you see and what do you want to show.

I do not want the colour and black and white version coexist in one thread. I'll give it some time and show the colour one for comparison later.

Thank you Awais. This image has had an amazing response on few forums I frequent. It just shows not only pretty girls get noticed.

    Hello Ted!

What a gorgeous shot you have there!

I'll go against the crowd and tell you I'm not that eager to seeing the color version of it, because the second thing that struck me when I saw your picture was how much you nailed the B&W conversion. Beautiful tones!

However, it was the overall scene, composition and the woman's expression that first got my eye. This is classic street photography at its best!

    Thanks so much for sharing!
    Take care!

Once again big thans to all that commented.

Thiago, judging from the number of comments and emails I got for this photo I'd say it is one of my best. I'll hold my comments on the colour version - I think it is not what some people expect.

I've had quite a few request to show this image in colour so here is the link to a colour version:

I can see why you chose to convert this image. The color version is almost jarring in the clash of color. It does have an appeal in it's own, but I prefer the conversion and I am not a great fan of b&w.
