Different Quick Settings problem

Hi all - please tell me if I'm doing something wrong here... I want to make a Quick Settings template to apply to all of my modeling galleries. Here are my steps, and the results... (BTW, tried this in both IE6 and FF 2.0.0.3)


I click on Customize to customize a gallery

"quick settings" reads "set everything manually"

I set all the options I want; the biggie here for me is the Printable option; I don't want people to be able to print these photos

The only options I'm changing here are "Easy Sharing" and "Printable" (both set to "No")

I scroll back to the top of the page, select "save settings below", and name them Models3, then I click the Save button. (I also tried saving the settings to the gallery, then coming back in and savings them as a Quick Settings, but no difference...)

I'm brought to my gallery now, and the changes I made have taken effect. So far, so good... so I select another gallery where I want to make the same changes, and select Customize Gallery. The Easy Sharing and Printable options are set to yes, and I want to change them using the Quick Settings.

In the Quick Settings dropdown box is a new option for Models3. I select it, all the radio buttons change to the non-clickable variety (which makes me think those settings are inherited from the Quick Settings), but the Easy Sharing and Printable options are still set to Yes, and I can't change them (without reverting to "set everything manually", so I know the Quick Settings is doing _something_...)...! :dunno

Why aren't my Quick Settings for Easy Sharing and Printable being carried over? I know the Help says that Quick settings do not save gallery title, description, keywords, category, subcategory, or theme, but these are none of those... are they?

Thanks for any help guys... In the meantime I'll be manually doing these changes I guess, which stinks cuz I'm on the road and on cellular dialup... :cry

Can you give us the links to a specific gallery you're trying to apply this quicksetting to?

I've done some digging and quicksettings seem to be working fine, with a small exception. We'll be looking into this, but it seems that even though you apply quicksettings, which greys out the radio buttons, it lies. The "printable" is not changing from yes to no on the quicksetting/customization screen, however, it IS properly setting the options. In my experience so far, after you accept these changes, it is setting the gallery correctly (disallowing the print options), although the quicksetting screen doesn't show the correct buttons being toggled.

We'll be digging. Please check this on your own to confirm it is applying the correct settings, but showing them incorrectly when in the 'quicksetting' screen and drop us a link.

URGH! I see it now!

When you select a Quick Settings from the dropdown box, it doesn't actually make the changes on the radio buttons below. I thought because the radio buttons were changing style (to read-only), that the values would be updating as well. Apparently this isn't the case though; the options aren't applied until you click save...

Maybe there should be a line in the top box that appears _after_ you slect a Quick Settings profile that reads, "Changes will not appear until you click Save" or something...

... or maybe I'm just sleepy on a rainy Sunday morning. :smack

Hi Steve - thanks for the fast response. See my note above for more detail, but yes, that appears to be what's happening; selecting the Quick Settings does not immediately change the radio buttons below for some settings, such as Easy Sharing and Printable. If you select your Quick Settings and click Save however, it does seem to apply them.

At least now I know the workaround... thanks again!
