Sandhills.....
they are frequent visitors to my back yard. I haven't seen them in a while, wonder what's up.
I had to grab my camera and go shooting.
Enjoy!

That is so neat to have Sandhills in your backyard. Some of those shots are really most excellent! thumb.gif

    Very nice series, Marina! thumb.gifthumb

The third one is neat. I think the fourth from the bottom would look even better with a crop just above the top of the house.

Thank you Maestro! They are trully beautiful birds, and easy to photograph, very calm and just minding their own business. I was hoping to see a baby one, but no such luck :cry

Its great having sandhills as neighbors. Excellent set of shots.

We very often have to stop our cars on theroads and wait for the sandhills to get finished crossing.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Thank you everyone. They didn't mind me at all, i was right in the middle of the crew. I'll say 5ft away? Laughing.gif They kept walking around me, but i would stay still and not move, they used to me being there and didn't mind it at all. I think they were glad to be models :D

And I hope you had a chance to hear them. They make some of the most unique sounds I've heard-- it's almost a rattling type of bird call when they take off and land.

Nice group of photos. Don't you just love these guys. I hear that they mate for life. I usually see them in pairs but I saw one alone the other day. Must still be lookingne_nau.gif . By the way, how BIG is your back yard????headscratch.gif
