Refractions -my turn ;)

I'm calling this a work in progress because I'm not getting the quality that I want. I only had time to play with a bounced 430 EX and next time I'm going to try the MT-24 or the MR-14.
Set a flower behind a water faucet, get the water dripping at a pretty good rate, and set a flower behind it. I place a ruler where the water was falling and focused the lens on it. I set up the flash with a Lumiquest Pocket Bouncer and a gold colored insert to make the light "warmer". Took lots of shots...

I'd like to see droplets size increasing as they go down. I know it's not the law of physics, yet...
Also, try to stage your shots farther from the tap to avoid initital misshaping.
I don't like the moot background.
Suggestion: flash on the flower, lower vantage point, black BG.
I expect to see truly great results!
Hi John, this is an excellent try
Thanks for telling us how you set up the shot too

I want to get the drops sharper, which means setting up the flash(s) in such a way that the burst rate is very fast -to pull this off I think the burst needs to be about 1/10,000 of a second...

Maybe if I add mashed potatoes to the Mr. Fusion instead of orange peals...
I'll work on that one -maybe change from the kitchen sink to one of the bathrooms. Angles, always shooting at difficult angles...
I'll work on that one too. All I had was some matte photo paper to prop up the flower. I'll see if I can find some colored construction paper today.
The lower vantage point thing will be tough -not possible to put the camera in the sink. That angle thing again...
Thanks for the suggestions!! :cool

Tomorrow I'll spend hours in Photoshop to add smiley faces to the drops!
You still have me laughing every time I think of that post
Thanks for the props! :cool

Perhaps I should write a action for this. That way even the most photoshop-challenged people can quickly improve their photos with a single click!!
