An old friend is in a Metal Band so I go out to support him and get a few shots while I am out.

I didn't care for this guy's singing to much but I have never seen anyone play the guitar like him! He can seriously jam!

Well, I like the other bands, 1-4, and the photograph with the kid in it as well, but the images of your friend didnt really appeal to me as much. Although the photo with that kid in it is kinda funny.

Take that flash out to the nearest railroad tracks and duct tape it to the tracks. Try to get pictures of it as the train smashes it to pieces!

Seriously, concert photography is much more appealing (at least it is to me anyway) without the flash so leave it at home if you can.

    Keep on clickin'!

    Rick-

It is easy to get non flash results when there is good lighting and your shooting people sitting on bar stools. mwink.gif

However try shooting a head banging heavy metal band in a dive bar without a flash- you don't get anything.

I'll remember this the next time you come back to Phoenix for work. :devbobo

haha! Hey Aaron! Lost track of you my brotha! Bookmarked your website just now! Oh, and I'll be in Phoenix on the 25th (next week). You have any plans? I was thinkin' about bringing the camera and doing some night shooting in downtown Scotsdale I think it was? Last time I was there we went to a college town for dinner... very cool vibe!

Another of our brotha's in Portland is taking some incredible concert photos... Ryan Mastro (he was based out of NY PBG until recently). Check his stuff out.. http://ryanmastro.com

And regardless, TRASH THAT FLASH BRO!! Here are shots I did of my brother-inlaws band a year or so ago. The room was DARK, as in I could hardly see the band... used a 50mm 1.4 lens and manual focused to get shots without flash.. http://rickweller.com/gallery/1474995#70490905
some of them actually turned out OK... woot!

Hope to see ya next week (same place, same class I think... doh!)
