I've just started working with RAW files on my camera and just got Elements loaded onto my computer. With some help from Dgrinners (davev and jfriend) I was able to edit my files slightly and save it as a jpg.

I'm looking for some feedback on the picture and also the edited picture. All comments are appreciated.

I think you've improved your capture greatly... nice job! Stick with it. I shoot exclusively in RAW now, and I couldn't imagine going back to JPG.

Thank you, I'm still trying to learn everything that I can.

I also just realized I misspelled review in the subject line. eek7.gif

Both of them have their advantages. In the first one, there is more detail in the lighter areas (like in the waves), and the cliffs in the backdrop have better color and tone. In your edit, the dark areas are greatly improved and the sky looks better, but the waves and backdrop don't look as good. You've also got a little vignetting in the upper corners. You might want to try to clone those out or do a little cropping. Keep up the experimenting...it can be a lot of fun! :D

Post processing and composition are always a very personal taste, and somebody else's opinion is no better than yours. I personally like the first shot. It shows more natural color and more contrast. The second shot looks warmer on my monitor which takes away some blue from the sky. This, though, shouldn't take away any of the fun you are having in playing with your pics in order to produce your own fresh and original creations.
