When the light conditions are favourable (bright but cloudy) I like trying just shooting with available light.

Skippy - not sure what the climate is like for gardening there, but sounds like you need to do some intensive horticulture
In one spot of my garden yesterday the flying bugs were at war with each other- bees, wasps, flies and hovers all flying around bouncing each other for the best sunny spots- it was very difficult knowing where to start pointing the camera - of course the intensive breeding and training programme helps :whip
