Nice shots ! Its so wierd seeing pelicams that are not bleach white. Do they get that dark from age ?
That's why we call them brown pelicans.
We also have white pelicans but the browns have them outnumbered.
Gppd shots William.

I live in louisiana, the brown pelican is our state bird and I actually haven't seen any white pelicans in my trips down south and to the coast....the only time I've seen a white pelican was in Florida....but they're still more brown pelicans

Brown pelicans made a hell of a comeback from pretty low numbers too! I like watching white pelicans dip their bills in unison, but the browns make those amazing dives which are so incredible to watch.
bif clap and if you could just put the ducks head back on ok!! if that is from mating he is doing it wrong oh yea this is hollywood :cry sorry nice shot
Nice set William. Those pelicans are crazy birds...eh? I'm always amazed they don't knock themselves out when they hit the water while fishing.
Thanks Mike. They always make me laugh, but this was the first time I saw one in clown make-up. I did one shot of him diving into the water but it wasn't too clear so maybe it knocked the focus loose.

Thanks RE, we are fortunate to have both, but I don't think the White's are year round.

Thanks Jen, there were a couple of dives when I was there, but I missed.

Nice shots!
Thanks Shasoc, they do appear to be a throw back to another era, but in this case I was struck with his modern clown look.

Thanks Jody, I wondered how he lost most of his head, and why he is still alive. But thankfully nature can be generous some times.
