Rant about politics in kid sport

I've been outlining a ridiculous situation that affects my husband and his hours of volunteerism in our community soccer world on my blog.
I am so annoyed right now, as the meeting at which he was to be told what he has done worng has been cancelled - the discipline committee held the meeting early and made their decision.
Now just so you know, his 'crime' was changing the organziation that he coached for, nothing evil or harmful to anyone in any way.
And just so you know, the soccer world here in Edmonton is more toxic and politicized and SO not about kid sport that it is not funny, so this really is nothing new.
Ya know, people have gotten away with embezilling thousands of $ from these programs, people charged with inappropriate behavior toward children continue to coach, and yet moving to a more competitive program gets you banned!!!
Okay, I'm done flaming now!!!!!:soapbox:argue:duel

Unfortunately Ann in many organizations, many people have their own agenda they follow, and so many times it is not in the best interest of either the group or company, or people they represent.
It's what we call 'feathering their own nests'.
It can be quite a crushing blow to find out that even though you put all your heart and time and effort into something, others can come along and bring everything to a grinding halt!
They have to stop looking at things from the "What's in it for me" position, and look at the big picture of "What's in it for the kids" position.
...... hope they can work something out .

:skippy Everyone has the right to be stupid, but some people just abuse the privilege :dgrin
(ice hockey). One controlled who did youth hockey and the other, in-house
leagues throughout the area. One ran pretty well and had the whole policy
and proceedure thing down. There was a process to decide who ref'ed what
games (right officials for the right level). The other? Total politics. All about
who liked whom. Damn you if you didn't agree that a level one official was
the right one for a Jr. B game.
And you pretty much had to belong to both organizations because to learn,
you need to do youth hockey. But the need was not just there but adult
in-house too. Now it's pretty much down to the good one with the politicos
pushed out (kicking and screaming).
Good luck.
