Old Seven Mile Bridge
Every year I head down to Marathon, Florida to run the 7 Mile Bridge Run in April. This run commemorates the opening of the new 7 mile bridge connecting Marathon to the smaller keys leading to Key West. The original bridge was finished in 1912 as part of the Overseas Railroad. The new bridge was finished in 1982. The evening after the run this year, three friends and I stayed to fish for tarpon, which begin to migrate through the area this time of year. This picture of the old bridge was taken at sunset as we were anchored between the old and new bridge, drifting live baits back in the current, waiting for tarpon. The tarpon never came, but sunset did come, right on schedule.

My wife and I fly to Miami every year for a Dolphins home game, then we head to Key West. I always have to make a bunch of stops for pictures.

Maybe little to wide, but still nice.

thank you
the photo was taken with the 12-24 lens...this is a crop from the original, which is even wider
I would like to go back some time and try the bridge from a few different angles and focal lengths to find the right way to capture it...with seven miles of it, there are certainly a lot of options!
thanks!
it's one of my favorite places to anchor too
my words, my "pro"pictures, my "fun" pictures, my videos.
now that's the way to go!

yes, I had posted first in Journeys, then a couple days later in Whipping Post...or maybe the other way around
no one had commented in about a month, and now it has been brought back to life
